XPages bring powerful new capabilities to the IBM Lotus Domino platform, but the development model is quite different from what most Domino developers are accustomed to. This session will take you on a gentle but rapid journey from the familiar territory of procedural LotusScript, through a common-sense approach to visualizing data and business processes as "objects", to a world in which those objects map directly to user interface components with which your users can intuitively interact. Don't discard everything you've learned in an attempt to embrace the new... instead, evolve what you already know: this session will show you how.
Stay right in your seats as we run through a few closing thoughts, pictures and whatever else we make up. We promise, no more than 20 minutes and we are all done to go explore St Louis some more. Then prepare yourself to stay the extra day for TackItOn

This session will discuss techniques for understanding and troubleshooting other people's code, along with strategies for changing the old code without breaking anything. This information might also be handy for looking at your own code that was written more than 3 months ago. WARNING: there will be very little discussion of XPages.

One of the most powerful features of XPages is the ability to compute nearly any value or attribute on the fly, from column headers to labels to styles to validation rules. But how do these runtime computations actually work? We'll take you on a technical deep dive into EL bindings, and show you how to get the most out of this remarkable capability. Learn how to perform simple inline calculations, exploit map variables, discover alternative syntaxes, and even write your own EL resolver, allowing you to create your own language! Whether you're an XPages beginner or expert, you're sure to get something out of this in-depth session.

Build a breadcrumb that will allow your users to return to the pages that they have traversed. This will be a technical show and do session. I will show how to make a custom control that will allow you to have the user return to any page they were on. It even takes you back to the same page in a view or repeat control. See how the view and repeat control need different logic to return the user to the same page. The Breadcrumb Control can be added to any XPage or custom control with out any changes. Only the view and repeat control need additional coding.
Social Business is real; it is the most significant paradigm shift in the way people interact with each other and with processes and information since the advent of network computing. Social Business is all about bringing social interaction patterns, i.e., the way people interact naturally with each other, into the enterprise. Social interaction patterns put people-to-people interactions at the center of it all and, contrary to the traditional way in which we visualize collaboration, turn process and information into mere attributes of those interactions. Transforming a company into a Social Business can be a daunting task but it doesn't have to be--not when you have the right tools. The IBM Exceptional Work Experience Suite has everything you need to bring social interaction patterns to life in an enterprise context. This session will discuss how you can leverage the social capabilities at the core of the IBM Exceptional Work Experience Suite to help your company (or your customers) get started down the path to Social Business.
