XPages bug (#2) on Domino 8.5 server

We have yet another bug that was uncovered with XPages on a Domino 8.5 server. It seems that the file downloads for the session slides and samples were giving errors to everyone, no matter the browser version. The amazing Matt White has updated the template which we are applying to the site tonight. It should fix the issue. If not, Matt is putting on a wonderful XPages session at IamLUG where we can ask him these questions :-)

This session will cover the options available for developers to extend Domino Applications out to BlackBerry. We will cover Java Applications Development and BlackBerry Browser Development. How to break Xpages . . and the new IamLUG agenda in pdf

We published the agenda yesterday, which was then nicely rendered using Xpages on a Domino 8.5 server. However, people started reporting blank spots with no session showing. Some even saying they saw differences on the same machine using two different browsers! Or worse they could see it fully on one machine and not on others. It went in every imaginable scenario direction with no resolution. Refreshing might even change what you saw on the agenda slots (meaning a session there and then magically gone). So while we were making a printed copy for everyone, it was easier to combine it all and publish it in advance while Xpages comes to work as it pleases.

IamLUG is using numerous rooms at the event for sessions, sponsors, parties, testing and dining. So we expanded the database to let us use 6 rooms across the days. In the attached PDF, we show you all the schedule, the exact rooms and what session will be presented. So without further interruption, we present the agenda.

We have some special things that will happen while at IamLUG, no matter if you are there or keeping an eye on things remotely. The hashtag is like a tiny piece of duct tape that helps smoothly bind a lot of it together. Please use the #IamLUG hashtag for all your communication on any of the social media networks so we make sure we pick it up. One of the key things is to start connecting to each other to share information and build a better community.

So what things do we have in store?

uStream - we will be broadcasting a few things live from the event so make sure you watch Twitter, PlanetLotus and other area to know the schedule.

Twitter - you know that we are already on Twitter, but look for some cool things for you to interact remotely with everyone there. A further announcement on that will be up shortly. Don't forget to use the hastag !

Flickr - There is a group for IamLUG, please feel free to join right here! You could also help by tagging your pictures with the proper hashtag so it can be caught by other applications as well. For example any pictures on Flickr can be tagged #IamLUG and will be seen by us.

LinkedIn - there is an official IamLUG group on LinkedIn for you to join, network and share information. Many of your filled out your LinkedIn profile information when registering as a delegate, join the group and stay in touch with everyone if this is your site of choice

Virtual DB2 in Domino? Sure thing

Do you use LEI's Direct Transfer? Do you delete all the document daily, then pull the new information? Why not go virtual with virtual fields, documents and views. They give your application DB2 data that is really current without the overhead of deletion stubs and some neat benefits. Use Notes documents to pass and receive data from stored procedures using the Notes action menu, I will show how to use the features of the different Lotus product's, DCR, DECS and LEI, to present DB2 data live in Notes Forms and views. While the demos will be with done accessing DB2, you could use Oracle or any other RDBMS.
